The traces of events are not inert, but are carriers of potential. They are reactivatable, and their reactivation helps trigger a new event which continues the creative process from which they came, but in a new iteration. The topic and central concept for Erin Manning’s artist talk hosted by SPAȚIU INTACT is Anarchive – a repertory of traces of events.
The artist talk will take place on May the 19th at 7 pm in our space at Centrul de Interes and will also be the setting for the opening of her exhibition, The Colour of Time – Anarchive. During this meeting, Erin Manning establishes the anarchive of her project in Tunis, form October 2017. The artist talk will be moderated by Corina Ilea, independent curator.
Erin Manning holds a University Research Chair in Relational Art and Philosophy in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University (Montreal, Canada). She is also the director of the SenseLab (www.senselab.ca), a laboratory that explores the intersections between art practice and philosophy through the matrix of the sensing body in movement. Current art projects are focused around the concept of minor gestures in relation to colour and movement. Publications include Always More Than One: Individuation’s Dance (Duke UP, 2013), Relationscapes: Movement, Art, Philosophy (Cambridge, Mass.: MIT Press, 2009) and, with Brian Massumi, Thought in the Act: Passages in the Ecology of Experience (Minnesota UP, 2014) and The Minor Gesture (Duke UP, 2016).
This event, artist talk and exhibition, is organised by SPAȚIU INTACT with the kind support of our partners: The Faculty of Letters, Department of Comparative Literature, Babeș-Bolyai University, SenseLab, Concordia University (Montreal, Canada), and, as our longstanding partners, Cluj-Napoca Cityhall and Transilvania Bank, within the BT Contemporary programe.
