SPAȚIU INTACT
SPAȚIU INTACT is a non-profit art space showing a range of thought-provoking creative positions within contemporary art and culture, through a programme of curated exhibitions and events purely for the public benefit.Including a gallery and a studio, SPAȚIU INTACT opened in 2012 and, since then, it has become a central meeting point between major international artists, the artistic community in Cluj and Romania and the local audience, continuously fostering interaction, exchange of ideas and an appreciation for creative endeavour and experiment.
The Studio is dedicated to artistic residencies. The invited residents are graduates of the Romanian art universities, who need support and space at the outset of their career. They are actively involved in the public programme of the gallery and have the chance to present their work to curators, gallerists and collectors who visit the gallery. The studio also hosts international established artists interested in spending time in Cluj and learning about the local art scene. Occasionally they exhibit new and existing work in solo shows at Spatiu Intact.
The gallery and the studio are financed by the Intact Cultural Foundation through its own resources, collaborations with foreign cultural institutes, private contributions and sponsorships.
SPAȚIU INTACT is located at Centrul de Interes (Casa Hintz, Str. Regele Ferdinand 1, Cluj-Napoca), a former industrial building converted into a creative hub hosting various art galleries and studios, united under the Galleries and Artists Federation (FGAFP). On the site of SPAȚIU INTACT there was the quality control section. Our history has always been the future.
Founded in 2000, in Cluj Napoca, the Intact Cultural Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes solid cultural projects anchored in contemporary artistic discourse. It has collaborated with prestigious art institutions, such as the French Cultural Institute, Pro Helvetia, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Swedish Institute, Goethe Kulturzentrum, Kunststation Kleinsassen – Germany, the National Center for Fine Arts (CNAP – Paris, France), Bator Tabor Hungary, the Czech Cultural Institute, the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca, David Zwirner Gallery (New York and London), Zeno X Gallery (Antwerp), Tate Modern (London), Le Plafond (Amsterdam), Stroom Den Haag (Amsterdam), Gwangju Biennale (South Korea) and Biennale de la Danse (Lyon).
Since 2012, it has opened SPAȚIU INTACT, a project space composed of a gallery and workshop, located in the Center of Interest, which proposes a conceptually coherent program of exhibitions, conferences and artistic residencies.
The year 2017 marks the beginning of the partnership between the Intact Cultural Foundation and the Jeune Création Européene contemporary art biennial, expanding the curatorial and exhibition program developed so far. The new project facilitates the meeting between new artistic concerns in Romania and those in the European space, thus establishing a solid platform for international exposure and promotion for emerging Romanian artists.
