Video Art in Italy: Genius and Indiscipline
11 September – 17 October 2020
Curator: Valentina Valentini
“Il video rende felice: zapping fra la videoarte in Italia “, project curated by Valentina Valentini, includes video works signed by important artists such as those linked to Art/Tapes/22 – John Baldessari, Jannis Kounnelis, Alighiero Boetti, Urs Lüthi, Giulio Paolini, Arnulf Rainer, Charlemagne Palestine – but also by more recent names in contemporary art: Rä Di Martino, Masbedo, Daniele Puppi or Michele Sambin .
“The models of Italian video art are of the highest order – those of the cinema and painting, of poetry, of the most vital neo-avant-garde artistic traditions, but seen as a reinvention and not as a repertoire that was stored just to be recycled into citation operations.” – Valentina Valentini
Alfredo Pirri: Passi
September 11 – October 17, 2020
Present for the first time at Centrul de Interes, Alfredo Pirri, one of the best rated Italian artists at present, whose works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale or at the MoMA in New York, will turn the floor of the ATRIUM Hall into a huge mirror, inviting visitors to walk around. The installation is part of a series of works entitled “Passi”, created by the artist during the past 17 years and exhibited in prominent locations such as the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome or the Accademia Gallery in Florence.
In the opening: “Shadows”, a performance featuring Cluj-Napoca Romanian National Opera’s prima ballerina, Andreea Jura. Documented by Mircea Albuțiu (photo) and Ioana Ofelia (video).
Organisers: Fundația Culturală Intact and Friche
